Something to do December 2, 2010

So for all those in Kuwait, you know there isn’t a WHOLE lot to do here and we’re always looking for something new fun and interesting. My husband and I found Kuwait Little Theatre which is an amateur dramatic society supported by the Kuwait Oil Company where the locals along with teachers and students from American and English schools come together to put on a show for all those who are interested.

Every couple of months they come out with completely different theatre shows, sometimes their musicals, sometimes a comedy but it is always entertaining. The place isn’t huge so you have to email them and reserve tickets, if there are any available they will hold the seats for you and you pay on the day of the show. The tickets are 5kd each and soft drinks are included.

The great thing about KLT is they give you the opportunity to volunteer with them! If you’re new to Kuwait, are bored or just interested in meeting new people, be sure to get on board with this bunch they look like fun the work will be cool and you’ll be lending a helping hand in expanding Kuwait’s arts community.

Kuwait little theatre is located in Ahmadi so it’s a bit far; here are their instructions to the theatre:

From the Fahaheel Expressway, (30), or the Magreb Motorway, (40), take the 212 into Ahmadi.

Cross the traffic lights and, just after the speed bump by Ahmadi Governate, (on the left), get into the right lane to take the right fork into North Ahmadi. (Signposted)

Continue straight along 8th Avenue. You will go across three roundabouts until you reach a T-junction at the top.

Turn left at the T-Junction. This is Main Street.

On the corner on your left is now a big yellowish building. (KOC Head Office) Just after this is a mosque and then the driveway to the theatre. (There is a signpost for The KLT on the right hand side of the road but it points into the drive BEFORE ours!)

Turn left into the KLT drive and the theatre is straight ahead of you. Park in our parking lot and come on in!

If you reached another roundabout you have gone too far!

Be sure to check out their website to read more about them, their productions and the people. Enjoy!

My husband found this toy at a local shopping centre, I can’t believe this is actually available for kids to play with! Disturbing.

Gotta have it!

E!s fashion police

For all those who have OSN, and I’m sure any chick that already does, watches E! & the Style network. Both channels air the show “fashion police” starring Joan Rivers and in one of their episodes they were showing one of the latest trends, coloured shoes.

Now, for some reason this seems to be a trend that not everyone is in love with and I don’t get it! It’s just gorgeous! Since the shoes must be bright (not neon!) and colourful I will obviously suggest wearing a single coloured or a nude coloured dress. The thing I adore about this trend is how cost affective it can be. There is no need to wander the malls looking for a colourful trendy funky dress, and instead invest in a pair (s) of fabulous heels with any boring dress you have hanging in your wardrobe and instantly set the trend! Like those on fashion police, investing in a pair of heels or flats is never a waste because unlike our dress size, our shoe size will never change:D

Given, some people really don’t know how to pull this look off and I don’t know how you can get this wrong, I was

surprised to see SJP get it wrong, she’s like a fashion icon, but the Vivienne Westwood mess of a dress and those blue heels looked sloppy but anyway, it’s quite simple, and if you’re scared to look like you’ve just stepped out of a clown car, remember this, get a simple dress, not too much detail, glitter beading etc but go ALL out on the shoes! Get something insanely stylish funky gorgeous and try to suffer through the pain, because lets face it, when have YOU ever bought a pair that managed to look hot and be comfortable? Cause if you did, please tell me:(!

Don’t fret, you don’t need to go to Christian Louboutin, because not every average joe can splurge on a pair of $600 shoes, visit Topshop or River Island or go on-line and check out Zappos, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for! Remember you don’t have to be in a dress to follow this trend, go ahead and find a pair of flats along with jeans or tights, it’ll look just as stylish;) Embrace this trend, it’s fabulous!!!

In love with fashion November 29, 2010

So do you remember my post bout harem pants? I mentioned they need to be a certain quality matched with the perfect top etc, well today I went into Topshop in Avenues shopping centre (Kuwait) and as soon as you enter there are black harem pants hanging so I decided to give it a shot, and I loved them! The material is stretch so it’s superbly comfortable, there is a big bow on the left and there are zippers near the leg, they are so cute!

Harem pants from Topshop

I was hesitant to purchase them cause I got myself a butt and they tend to make the butt a bit bigger but then I found a pair of shoes that I fell in love with too (I fall in love a lot with clothes and shoes) they are black and gold, I love that the gold is minimal but still visible. The pants matched together with heels pulled my posture upright as heels do!

I loved the top I was wearing (not very clear here) it was loose and had a pocket on the right with a fake zipper, very chic but it was 18KD and I thought since I’m going to Australia soon, I’d better stick to buying a top from there since it’ll probably be a whole lot cheaper and it’s not very hard to find one that will look good, unlike the pants.

The thing I recommend if anyone wants to buy these pants is to match it with a light coloured top, avoid black, navy, grey and go for red yellow green purple etc. The pants are 24KD and the fabulous shoes (on left) are 37KD.

The blazer; An essential key piece November 24, 2010

Blazers are everywhere!

I really adore the gorgeous boyfriend blazer we’re seeing so mush of lately. Finally, there is a key piece that every fashion forward woman can use on pretty much any outfit, it’s really important to match your blazer to your outfit and to the season too. Remember, blazers are no longer restrcited to the office, in fcat, they can be added on to just about any outfit! For instance, if you’re planning a lunch with some girfriends on a gorgeous summer day, why not go ahead and wear your most fflattering pair of washed out denim uber-shorts (to the knee), a white satin flowy top and a snazzy yellow satin blazer on top with either heels or flats. You will instantly look up to date with literally ONE piece! Finally!

Blazers can be worn in just about anyway and at any occasion. I love how

Kerr rockin the blazer

Miranda Kerr matches her blazer with an evening dress, even though I wouldn’t do it because I love evening dresses to be the centre of attention but still I completely dig her look.

Now, my absaloute favourite look is the denim/blazer mesh up! Unfortuentley, I am yet to find the perfect blazer to suit me and I can’t find any in Kuwait (so if any of you have any suggestions, please share!). Anyway, I really love a pair of skinny jeans, a casual, white t shirt, and basically any colour blazer you feel like wearimg, I think it just depends on the accessories, you know, bags, necklaces etc. If it’s summer, try opting for a light fabric and color with fresh accessories (go to Forever 21) they have some gorgeous vibrantly coloured necklaces amoungest other things.

Anyway, if you’re scared to take a chance on this fashion piece, just remember it’s pretty hard to get it wrong with this key piece, just remember not to overdo it with the colours and the style, but this is something we should keep in mind when it comes to anything to do with fashion. Since the blazer is the key statement, remember to keep everything else minimal and I assure you, you will be rockin’ this style for a long time, enjoy;)

This is just a quick post for all film makers out there. A film maker discovered a clip from behind the scenes of “The circus” starring Charlie Chaplin, and in this clip, it seems to be a woman on her… cellphone!? In 1928?? Time travel or just a case of the heebie jeebies?! Check it out yourself and make your own judgements, either way  it’s CRAZY!

Pamper yourself! November 22, 2010

This is for all you ladies! Winter is here, and I’m sure you’ve got your wardrobe ready but that’s no excuse to forget about your nails. I don’t like to paint my nails on a regular basis because I am always aware that they might yellow too quickly but I found this amazing incredible new line by Zoya called “FLAME” available at Bubbles Nail Spa in Kuwait. The collection has six different colours all that make that winter outfit look so much more hotter!

ZOYA “FLAME” ‘nail polish collection
The great thing about Zoya and this particular collection is that according to their website ( is that it is free of “toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) – chemicals that are known to cause cancer and birth defects”. The colours are deep sexy and fresh and they have a tint of glitter but WAIT! don’t freak, I don’t like tacky glittery nail polish but this collection has a gorgeous subtle tint of glitter to it that just makes it look so stylish so if your local nail spa doesn’t have this collection get on their website mentioned above and be sure to check out the different colours available and hurry up and order!

Now, for all those residing in Kuwait I would strongly suggest visiting  Bubbles Nail Spa in the city even though it’s pricey be sure to treat  yourself even if it’s just once. Their collection of nail polish is  incredible there is every single shade you could want and the staff is  great. They are super cautious when it comes to hygiene so  everything they use on you that day is sent back with you to use at  home which is great. There are lots of different kinds of mani pedis I  usually go for the stone massage mani and pedi which comes up to  about 27 kd if I remember correctly, even the hot stones are a one  time use only thing! (Still doesn’t excuse the somewhat high price tag)  but I always go back to someone if their service is great.

Bubbles nail spa interior

The interior of the place is super cool and decked out in a stylish metal industrial kind of way with a lot of natural light which feels fresh and bright. Their chairs are comfortable and the sinks are sunk into the ground which is so much nicer than having someone bring you a bucket of water to dip your feet into! I love that they always bring me a heat pack to rest on my shoulders while I relax in the comfortable recliner. If you ask, they can bring you an eye mask to help you rest while getting your treatment. The best thing about Bubbles is that after you are done, they bring you a machine which allows you to put your hands and feet in for about 7 minutes that will completely dry the polish! Finally, we ladies can leave the spa with our polish still in tact even when we take out our purses to pay!

Two things I hate about this place is the freakin location! It’s in the city so getting there and back will almost always cause you to be stuck in traffic, and the parking is insane!! The other thing I don’t like about it is it is hard to get a reservation if you are calling on the same day. I know that you should always book a day before but sometimes you just feel like getting your nails done and not being able to is a bit annoying, I guess there is always a down side to being popular.

Be sure to check out their website Their address is Jasim Tower Al Sour Street and their phone number is 22960929 OR 22960930. Their website also has a map for directions. Try out their Zoya flame/fire & ice collection!!
