Hollywood's latest insane idea

I think reality TV has hit an all time low!! A couple of days ago a show called “BridalPlasty”aired on E! Basically, what it is, is a group of engaged chicks competing for the chance to win their dream wedding and all the surgeries they want, lipo, botox, boob jobs etc etc. I mean ok, I understand that people behind the scenes have ratings to reach so they can make a few more millions but really, what does a show like this tell us about what’s to come in the future, what our kids will be watching and talking about and the really sad thing is, we are becoming so desensitized to this rubbish, it’s just accepted in our society.

Undoubtedly,in this day and age reality TV has completely taken over, from American Idol, dancing with the stars, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore & Big Brother (the ”mother”) of all reality television, and we are completely hooked, so what can be said about the quality of what airs on TV and is there really anything good on anymore? Thankfully, there are some kick ASS shows on the box like breaking bad, lie to me, big bang theory, community, how I met your mother, two and a half men, and glee, fingers crossed these shows air for a long time coming.

Anyway, even though I am slamming trashy reality TV, I, in no way am denying that I enjoy and look forward to seeing everyday people venturing into insane projects and wicked arguments. Hey, everyone needs a break from “our” reality;)

Before I log off, there is an incredibly touching story I saw on the American Idol auditions that bought me to tears so much so that I woke up my poor husband at 2am. Ill let you all watch the video without any introductions but I only ask you for one thing. For those who have facebook, if you could just type in your search bar “FOR JULIANA” it will take you to the page this girl’s family created for her and just leave a kind word for the family, Juli and her incredible fiance Chris. A sweet word can go a long way in giving people the will to carry on.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it.

E!s fashion police

For all those who have OSN, and I’m sure any chick that already does, watches E! & the Style network. Both channels air the show “fashion police” starring Joan Rivers and in one of their episodes they were showing one of the latest trends, coloured shoes.

Now, for some reason this seems to be a trend that not everyone is in love with and I don’t get it! It’s just gorgeous! Since the shoes must be bright (not neon!) and colourful I will obviously suggest wearing a single coloured or a nude coloured dress. The thing I adore about this trend is how cost affective it can be. There is no need to wander the malls looking for a colourful trendy funky dress, and instead invest in a pair (s) of fabulous heels with any boring dress you have hanging in your wardrobe and instantly set the trend! Like those on fashion police, investing in a pair of heels or flats is never a waste because unlike our dress size, our shoe size will never change:D

Given, some people really don’t know how to pull this look off and I don’t know how you can get this wrong, I was

surprised to see SJP get it wrong, she’s like a fashion icon, but the Vivienne Westwood mess of a dress and those blue heels looked sloppy but anyway, it’s quite simple, and if you’re scared to look like you’ve just stepped out of a clown car, remember this, get a simple dress, not too much detail, glitter beading etc but go ALL out on the shoes! Get something insanely stylish funky gorgeous and try to suffer through the pain, because lets face it, when have YOU ever bought a pair that managed to look hot and be comfortable? Cause if you did, please tell me:(!

Don’t fret, you don’t need to go to Christian Louboutin, because not every average joe can splurge on a pair of $600 shoes, visit Topshop or River Island or go on-line and check out Zappos, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for! Remember you don’t have to be in a dress to follow this trend, go ahead and find a pair of flats along with jeans or tights, it’ll look just as stylish;) Embrace this trend, it’s fabulous!!!

This is just a quick post for all film makers out there. A film maker discovered a clip from behind the scenes of “The circus” starring Charlie Chaplin, and in this clip, it seems to be a woman on her… cellphone!? In 1928?? Time travel or just a case of the heebie jeebies?! Check it out yourself and make your own judgements, either way  it’s CRAZY!

I’m sad to admit I never was a big fan of reading, I would always rather watch TV and that is because I never read anything really interesting and I am not a fan of the typical damsel in distress novel. I decided I really do want to start reading and take a break from TV so this past summer I got into a few books that were interesting, but none like Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love: One woman’s search for everything. I really don’t know what to say about this book other than the simple fact that it has literally changed my life. In quick, the book is about Elizabeth a 30 something year old who is getting out of a messy divorce and sets to help herself recover and discover so she goes on a journey for one year to Italy India and Indonesia. I won’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone waiting to read it.

I don’t care much for peoples’  insulting opinions that Gilbert’s spiritual quest is forced or exaggerated to add more drama or that this is a desperate quest to be noted as an avant garde artist, it actually really bothers me because I find her writing and her experience so honest and at times truly heartbreaking.

Anyway what I love about this book is that it personally helped me realise and deal with many things in my life because at the core of it, it’s just a story about a woman trying to find herself and isn’t everyone? Now just because I want to find what makes me happy I won’t go doing the same thing she did because this is HER journey, and we must all make our own stories and experiences.

Author of Eat Pray Love Elizabeth Gilbert

I don’t want to write any more about it because I’m afraid I will get too excited and get into detail so all I will leave you with is I couldn’t recommend this story enough, it’s an amazing read and will fill your heart with so much compassion and love. I hope you all get out of it what I did and that is a deeper meaning to life and an urge to discover yourself.

Ok, so I am openly admitting that I LOVE reality shows, and I’m sure many people do too, hence the abundance of reality shows popping out like E!s Julliana & Bill, Keeping up with the Kardashians, The spin crowd and so on, anyway, I couldn’t really get into Jersey Shore, but I did stumble upon a little show called Jerseylicious airing on the Style network, and I have been addicted ever since! It’s in its second season and is full of the usual things people love, cat fights, bogus tans, animal prints, relationships and breakups! I must admit, this show is no Sopranos, but in the midst of all of the disasters which exist in this world and all the terrible things we see on the news, sometimes all we need is an hour a day to take a break and watch something light hearted, well, at least for the viewers it is! and laugh:P

This show revolves around a salon in New Jersey called The Gatsby run by mum and daughter duo Gayle and Kristy. They employee a few hairstylists, GiGi, the sweet happy 23 year old ready to get married and settle with her boyfriend Frankie, Tracy, a vicious girl who is full of fire and anger and Anthony, a salon owner himself temporarily working at Gayles’s salon. They also hire make up artists Alexa, an ambitious happily single woman and Olivia, a typical fun crazy girl trying to get her life together, not successfully mind you.

Anwyay, the reason I love this show is because I feel like it’s not scripted and the characters are sticking to their true colours in terms of everything from what they call fashion to their relationships with one another. Unlike J WOW from Jersey Shore who has now tranformed herself from trash to class, (don’t get me wrong I think what they wear is disgusting, but at least it’s authentic!)

What I love most about this show is the tension, stares and fights between Olivia and Tracy, it’s completely disgraceful but my guilty pleasure, everyone loves to see a cat fight!

So, if you’re looking for something funny and trashy, (just admit it, you love it too!) then be sure to check out this show, they are in the middle of their second season but the Style network airs repeats daily, so be sure to check out your TV guide, alternatively hop onto Enjoy!
